ID : All righty .. how have u been doing avneesh ?
Avneesh: I have been doing great, pretty relaxed as exams got finished today!!
Avneesh:It really feels awesome you know. i just saw the competition 2 days before the deadline day and i was like i really need to take part in this. so just picked up my sticks, played 1 of my favourite song and bang! started air drumming! and I after recording the video I was pretty much confident about winning this one
ID: How long have you been playing drums now? and what genre’s you have been following since you started playing?
Avneesh : I got my first drum kit when I was 12. I really did not knew what was all it about so i did not show any real interest in it. It was 2 years back when i picked up the sticks again and joined Noida School Of Rock to learn it professionally and from that day never looked back ; I am more into alternative rock/post-grunge like Alter Bridge, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Hoobastank and all.
ID: Do you play for a band? would you like to share some info of your band with us?
Avneesh : I had a band called Fingerprint. But we parted ways because the guys went for their respective studies. We won 2 battle of bands and it was really nice to be with those guys. Currently I am jamming with a couple of bands. let’s hope things work out
ID: Did you guys (fingerprint) used to play as cover band or you had your own stuffs as well? what was the genre of fingerprint?
Avneesh : We had our OCs as well and did some cover as well. Like in 1 battle of bands we covered shiela ki jawaani and turned it into a rock version and that turned out to be a pretty awesome song! I can say because of this and our OC we won that battle.
The Genre we played was Alternative/Grunge Rock
ID: If i ask you to name bands or drummers who have majorly influenced your drumming style , could you tell us something in this regard?
Avneesh: I would say Alter Bridge is one band that has really influenced me. The songs they compose, their stage presence, their style of doing things has really influenced me a lot.
The drummers that have influenced me are mainly Scott Philips( Alter Bridge), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) and Chris Adler (Lamb of God). Though the genre chris adler plays is very different from what i like, but i really like his style of drumming.
ID: Well, would you give us a brief description of about your kit and the gears you use?
Avneesh: Well, i use a Mapex Meridian Birch Drum Set, Zildjian Planet Z Hi-hats, 16′ Crash and 20′ ride and a 18′ Sabian Crash/Ride and Mapex Falcon Double Bass Pedal.
Avneesh: umm..practicing daily is the best thing. I generally start with drum rudiments then few of my favourite songs and then to to some new ones i want to experiment.
ID: Now before we wind up, you have been on the stage for competitions so, how was your experience ? :p and any piece of advice for our viewers?
Avneesh: The experience was really out of the world types! to play in front of a large crowd, and playing your favourites and eventually winning was something totally mind blowing. My only advice to other drummers would be to go out and perform your heart out and do not worry about winning or losing. In the end we are all doing this because we love music
ID: Great buddy .. would like to hear how you feel about this initiative by indian drummer and you can say something more to ur frends family… this is your space ?
Avneesh : The work Indian drummer is doing is simply superb! I mean running a website and hosting all competitions all related to drummers really makes me feel good and I am pretty sure drummers across India would also feel the same. You guys have put in a lot of effort and i hope this initiative by Indian drummer goes on and on!
And i would like to mention the Prize I got, The drumming system is really helping me a lot in improving my techniques and small small things I used to ignore before, I identify them and work on them. Thanks a lot Indian Drummer!
ID: thanks a lot man to do this interview with Indian drummer .. best of luck for your future!
Avneesh: Thanks man
