Drumming can be associated to so many ways of man’s Emotions. And especially when you play it, you have a sense of connection towards a very supernatural feeling. For me from being into so far versatile styles of drumming, ever since I started, I began to realize that the drum beats in bringing soul to your heart, like a heartbeat. All These grooves and beats just get to an understanding with your being and character. For what you Express within, I personally feel is what your drumming is. For all the years of my practice and hard work that earned me the title “Drummer”, took me equal time to see what made it so special. Every band longs for a tight drummer.
Every band depends for major part on how the drummer plays. This responsibility of understanding the instrument and its role comes through loads of feel and determination to practice meaningfully. For what I think, it may be, Playing soulful on the instrument no matter which style you play be it Jazz or black metal. As I realize the instrument is living too and tends to breath along with your feel, so something just so disastrous in your playing makes you a worse case on the instrument. It is so very important to develop ear to the instrument, and with it analyze the idea behind the way it is to be played.
Techniques, Exercises and Rules don’t work for me to achieve this; it is of course very important, but not just it. It’s just feel and sheer Soul. I’m a metal drummer, and many do look at our category of drummers as aggressive and loud and probably even noisy, but it’s more of emotion that jives along with the technique of all these fast groovy beats that gets people to enjoy. This is what I like to discover in my everyday drumming. It never finishes at that, it always grows as a relationship on the kit.0 Like this Post ?
